As a result of immediate investigative actions conducted by the officers of Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two citizens of the Republic of Turkey: A.E., born in 2003, and M.J., born in 1998, were arrested in connection with a murder that took place in Batumi.
A.E. is charged with premeditated murder and illegal acquisition and storage of firearms. While M.J. is charged with failure to report a particularly serious crime and illegal border crossing.
The committed crimes envision up to 15 years in prison.
The investigation established that A.E. fatally wounded H.T., a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, born in 1976, who was at a restaurant in Batumi, with a gunshot wound, on the basis of the alleged confrontation between the criminal parties, and fled the scene.
The investigation also established that A.E.’s accomplice M.J. witnessed the crime, although failed to report the incident to law enforcers.
As a result of immediate investigative actions, the police arrested both of them as suspects.
The investigation into the facts of premeditated murder, illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition, failure to report a particularly serious crime, and illegal crossing of the state border of Georgia is in progress under Articles 108, 236, 376 and 344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
