Geka Geladze Laid a Wreath at the Memorial of Police Officers Who Fell in the Line of Duty During the August war of 2008

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Geka Geladze, along with his deputies and family members of the police officers killed in the line of duty during the August war 2008 between Russia and Georgia, laid a wreath at the memorial located in the backyard of the Ministry.

The leadership of departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also paid tribute to the memory of the police officers who fell for the unity of Georgia and laid flowers at the memorial.

Geka Geladze held a meeting with the family members of the fallen police officers and noted that the Ministry will always stand beside the families of the heroically deceased police officers. According to him, the contribution of the police officers killed in battle for the unity of Georgia is invaluable to the country.

Geka Geladze also visited the base of Special Tasks Department. The Minister of Internal Affairs, along with deputies and employees and of the department, laid a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the memory of the employees killed in the battle for the unity of Georgia and honored their memory with a minute of silence. A memorial service was held to commemorate the souls of the deceased.

In August 2008, during the Russian-Georgian war, 19 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were killed.
