Police Detained 2 Foreign Nationals in Batumi Shooting

As a result of operational and search measures and investigative actions, officers of Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained two citizens of the Republic of Turkey: P.K., born in 1995, and I.G., born in 1989, were detained in connection with the shooting in Batumi.

The detainees are charged with hooliganism committed in group, illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of firearms, and illegal acquisition and storage of a large amount of narcotics.

The investigation established that late at night, on July 21 of the current year, the defendants fired several shots from a firearm in the direction of a casino in Batumi and fled the scene. The casino door and part of the facade were damaged as a result.

Law enforcement officers, as a result of the personal search and search activities held in residential apartments, seized a particularly large amount of "cocaine" drug as evidence.

As a result of the conducted operational-search measures and investigative actions, the police arrested F.K. and I.G. as defendants.

The crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

The investigation is underway under Articles 236, 239 and 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
