As a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions conducted by the Detectives Division of Shida Kartli Police Department and Khashuri Police Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs along with Shida Kartli Forestry Service of LEPL National Forestry Agency, I.G., born in 1969, was arrested for violating sawmill registration requirements and illegal felling of wood plants.
The committed crime envisions up to 5 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the detainee owned an unregistered sawmill in a forest area located near the villages of Khashuri Municipality, where he had installed the so-called electric band saw.
Law enforcement officers seized 12 logs of coniferous species illegally cut down by the detainee in one of the artificially planted forest areas on Khashuri-Surami territory, as well as 70 pieces of split logs illegally obtained and stored by the detainees at an unverified period of time.
The investigation into the violation of the requirements for the registration of a sawmill and the illegal felling of wood plants is in progress under 287, part I and Article 303 part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
