On July 16 of the current year, in the village of Kheltubani, Gori Municipality, several citizens attacked employees of Shida Kartli Police Department while they were performing their official duties.
As a result of the incident, law enforcement officers received various types of injuries, including three police officers with cold steel. At this stage, all three of them have been taken to the hospital, where they received appropriate medical assistance.
Before the attack, law enforcement officers stopped one of the vehicles while performing their official duties for inspection, which was operated by a minor - S.S., born in 2009, who did not have a driver's license. S.S. resisted law enforcement officers. The minor's father and their relatives also got involved in the confrontation, during which S.S. and his companions injured law enforcement officers.
Police arrested G.S. born in 1979, S.S. born in 2009, S.S. born in 1989, V.S. born in 1961, and M.A. born in 1989 on charges of the assault committed in group against law enforcers.
An investigation is underway into the incident under Article 353 (1) part two of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Each attack on police officers will be followed by the strict legal response by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
