On August 6 of the current year, the Investigation Division of Shida Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report about the discovery of the body of a young man on Tsabadze Street in the town of Gori. All relevant units of Shida Kartli Police Department were immediately mobilized at the scene.
In order to establish the actual events of the incident, an investigation is currently in progress under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies premeditated murder, although taking into consideration the initial data of the medical examination, the Article may be requalified.
In connection with the incident, intensive investigation proceedings are underway and all necessary investigative actions are being implemented.
We would like to remind you that the information disseminated by some media outlets, alleging that injuries inflicted with a cold steel were detected on the body of the deceased person, is a complete falsehood.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on media representatives to refrain from disseminating unverified information and to wait for the results of the ongoing investigation into the case.
