As a result of operational-investigative actions carried out by officers of the Georgian Border Police, one person was arrested on charges of bribery, based on the Court decision.
In addition, as a result of personal search and search activities held in detainees’ apartments, “Makarov” firearm was seized, which was illegally stored by the detainee.
The committed crime envisions from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that citizen Z.M., born in 1988, offered a bribe to a Georgian Border Police officer in exchange for assistance for committing an illegal act, namely, for transporting cattle bypassing the border checkpoint. In addition, Makarov-type firearm, which the defendant was illegally storing, was seized during a search of his apartment.
An investigation into the facts of bribery and illegal purchase and storage of firearms is underway under Articles 339 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
