As a result of complex operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Marneuli Police Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained three citizens of the Republic of Turkey on charges of illegal border crossing of Georgia, illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition, and assisting in illegal storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
The detainees are: I.J., born in 1999, Sh.I., born in 1980. and G.I., born in 2000, wanted by the Turkish Interpol for the premeditated murder of two persons under the red notice.
The investigation established that I.J. and G.I. illegally crossed the state border of Georgia, bypassing the official state border control. Law enforcement officers stopped all three defendants while driving in Tetritskaro municipality.
The police seized a firearm and 13 cartridges from the defendants as evidence.
The crimes envisions up to 11 years of imprisonment.
The investigation is underway under Articles 344, 25-236 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
