Minister of Internal Affairs, Geka Geladze is at the site of the collaped building, near the “Station Square”, Tbilisi where he got familiarized with the activities implemented on the ground by the employees of Emergency Situations Management Service and representatives of police units.
As Minister of Internal Affairs noted, according to the currently verified information, one person died and another was injured as a result of the collapse, who has been transferred to the hospital for appropriate medical treatment.
According to Geka Geladze, an investigation was launched into the incident under Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and all relevant investigative actions are being carried out.
Firefighters of Emergency Situations Management Service continue intensive rescue operations at the scene. Due to security measures, the area has been cordoned off.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, along with other senior officials of the agency, as well as the Mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, and representatives of the municipality, remains on site.
