On the basis of the tightened legislation on the fight against drugs, as a result of measures taken by the Ministry's employees over the past week, 314 individuals were tested for drugs throughout the country, out of which 240 people tested positive for the use of drugs, and their cases have been forwarded to court according to their jurisdiction. In addition to the mentioned, 23 individuals avoided drug testing, leading them to being fined the same as drug users, in accordance with the relevant legislative norm.
In recent days, an active false campaign has been launched, claiming that law enforcement officers are only testing rally participants or representatives of specific political party, which is another attempt to mislead the public. Among the persons checked, the police officer is not able to single out or exclude a person based on political views, which, in turn, is not an excuse for anyone.
We call on all interested parties to refrain from spreading such disinformation. All measures taken by the police, including drug testing, are aimed at combating the spread of drugs within the country and serves the best interests of our society.
We also call on representatives of the media not to create obstacles, but to share responsibility in the fight against drugs, where the correct provision of information plays a crucial role.
