As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested three persons for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition, resisting a police officer and providing false information. The detainees are: D.J., born in 1988, previously convicted of various crimes, including illegal carrying of weapons, as well as previously convicted I.V., born in 1975 and L.D., born in 1995.
The committed crimes envisionს up to 7 years of imprisonment.
While patrolling, law enforcement officers noticed that D.J. was carrying a firearm, on the basis of which appropriate legal measures were taken. During the search of D.J., his companion I.V. resisted the patrol-inspectors. Law enforcement officers seized the weapon, cartridges and a magazine, carried by D.J. as evidence.
The investigation also established that in the course of the investigation, namely in the process of questioning as a witness, L.D., currently detained as an accused, provided false information to law enforcement officers in order to obstruct justice.
The investigation is in progress under Articles 236, 353 and 370 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
